FCFCU Invests in Cutting Edge Card Technology

FAIRHAVEN — With the release of its new VISA CheckCard, First Citizens' Federal Credit Union has become the first financial institution in Massachusetts to offer personalized cards with next generation security features embedded within the card. The new cards offer distinct advantages including the ability to be personalized with photos or graphics; flat card technology that increases security functions; and replacement cards that are produced locally within 24 hours.

The new First Citizens' check cards feature technology that completely eliminates the highly non-secure embossing prevalent on today's cards. Instead, the card information is sealed within the card, preventing numbers being stolen by tracing or rubbing.

"As far as security goes, it is a quantum leap over what is now available," said Peter J. Muise, FCFCU president and CEO. "And, as much as anything it reinforces the notion that we at First Citizens' are dedicated to providing our members with optimum customer service and state-of-the-art financial products."

An added feature of the embedded card is that new cards are processed at First Citizens' central office in Fairhaven. The results are that, in the event of loss or theft, cards can be replaced within 48 hours. In emergency and special situations, cards can be replaced in even shorter time.

The cards will be available at customer request immediately, and will feature First Citizens' new corporate color and stylized logo.

"The reaction we have seen from those who have previewed the product has been overwhelmingly positive," said Muise.
