WIB Moves Forward in Implementing Strategic Plan

Over this past month, the WIB has organized a working group that will establish critical benchmarks that the WIB hopes will be used as key indicators to measure the WIB’s success as it implements its newly developed strategic plan. As a logical “next step” from its development, the WIB now looks to implement the 12 key objectives from its plan.

“Implementing these objectives is what will really make this plan a living document for this WIB,” said Craig Baker, WIB COO. “We’re at a point where some actionable items will be measurable within the next 6 months.”

The implementation couldn’t come at a better time as the WIB also looks to ramp up for its second attempt at becoming a High Performing Board. With the round two application due March 2, 2009, the WIB, it’s staff and local stakeholders continue to look at ways to improve the application. During a recent meeting with some members and staff, the state provided much anticipated reviewer comments from the original application, and offered technical assistance during the development of the next application.

Members of the Working group include David DeJesus, Jr., Southcoast Hospitals Group; Peter Muise, First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union; Ron Rouillard, Acushnet Company; Ed Dennehy, New Directions Southcoast, Inc.; Maria Pinarreta, BankFive, Paul Correia, LifeStream, Inc.; John Fernandes, UMass Dartmouth; and members of the WIB staff.
