Massachusetts Life Sciences Talent Initiative

Findings of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Talent Initiative (LSTI) study, Growing Talent have been released. The LSTI study was a yearlong project, co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, and conducted by the UMass Donahue Institute. Hundreds of business and academic leaders were engaged in the LSTI study. As a result, this research provides a comprehensive and quantitative assessment of the higher education and workforce challenges facing our life sciences super cluster.

The life sciences industry is a quickly growing industry that provides opportunities for new jobs and post-secondary education paths to follow. This study reveals key findings essential to increasing the pipeline of talent into this industry. The findings of this study also dovetail nicely with our region’s brownfields remediation efforts and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) pipeline initiative. The STEM Network is meeting to strategize on future efforts later this month.
