WIB Jumps on the CHANGE Bandwagon
The Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (WIB) is pleased to announce the following additions to our WIB Staff: Bridget Alexander as our new Director of Development, and Jason Wentworth as our new LiteracyWorks Entrepreneur. Additionally, in a reorganization of the administrative office, Craig Baker has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, and Jean Fox has been promoted to Youth Council Director.
Bridget Alexander ~ Director of Development
Bridget Alexander brings to the organization a wealth of experience in the areas of non-profit fundraising, public policy and legislation. Bridget’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree from VA Tech, in Communication Studies with Concentrations in Journalism & Public Relations and Minors in Fiction Writing & Women’s Studies. Bridget also holds a Juris Doctor Degree from Roger Williams University, in Bristol, Rhode Island. She is a current member of the Massachusetts Bar, and prior to joining the WIB practiced in the Boston vicinity in the area of civil litigation. Much of Bridget’s experience was acquired during her time in Washington, D.C., where she worked in the non-profit sector implementing federal government relations & fundraising strategies, and facilitating public policy seminars. More recently, Bridget worked with the Director of Policy for the Rhode Island Attorney General, Patrick Lynch, researching policy initiatives. As the Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board, Inc.’s Director of Development, Bridget hopes to utilize her skills and experience to increase funding, initiate and expand program development, and foster coalition building.
Jason Wentworth ~ LiteracyWorks Entrepreneur
Jason Wentworth brings experiences in public higher education, administration and finance, sales and marketing, and ESL program development and management with him in his new capacity as LiteracyWorks Entrepreneur. Born in Malden, Massachusetts, he worked most recently as the Business Manager for Campus Center Administration at the University of Massachusetts Boston, developing and managing multiple budgets, coordinating the sales and marketing efforts of the Campus Center’s Event and Conference Services, and acting as a liaison to various external clients from Governor Deval Patrick and Attorney General Martha Coakley to local and national non-profit organizations. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and the first person in his immediate family to graduate from college, Jason understands the transformative power of education and the necessity to make the most basic of educational opportunities readily available to the citizens of the Greater New Bedford Area. With over 10 years of experience as a Program Coordinator and Director for ASC English (a for-profit ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) educational institution in Boston), Jason understands the challenges faced by ABE (Adult Basic Education) and ESOL providers. As the LiteracyWorks Entrepreneur, he is committed to being a strong advocate for ABE/ESOL programs in the region, to promote awareness of critical literacy issues, and to help provide a forum and voice for service providers dealing with these serious socio-economic concerns on a daily basis.
